We analyze several aspects of a reaction-diffusion equation in two space dimensions with cubic nonlinearity, stochastically perturbed by white noise in time and in space. This equation needs renormalization, and physical implications of this circumstance are discussed. In particular, for sufficiently large coupling constant the effective potential becomes a double well and rare transitions from one minimum to the other are possible. These, however, are revealed only by large-scale fluctuations which exhibit a bimodal distribution. Fluctuations below a critical scale have unimodal distribution and do not see the double well. This phenomenon is connected with the singular character of local fluctuations in two or more space dimensions. The theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations. The possible physical relevance of our results is illustrated in connection with the analysis of certain observations of atmospheric fields. 相似文献

Two-dimensional lattice-gas models with attractive interactions and particle-conserving hopping dynamics under the influence of a very large external electric field E along a principal axis are studied in the case of different ratios between the jump rates in the field direction and perpendicular to it using different transition probabilities. We investigate the dependence of the non-equilibrium steady-state properties on the transition mechanism. We find self-similarity with respect to (T, ) and a coexistence curve critical exponent which, for small, seems independent of. There is some evidence that this exponent might be halfway between the equilibrium mean field and Onsager's values. In this paper we derive analytical expressions for the optical susceptibility of a two-level system immersed in a thermal bath and interacting with an external electromagnetic field, where both of them are considered as noise sources. The dynamics of the system is described by a set of optical stochastic Bloch equations. The noise sources are modeled as Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes. The optical stochastic Bloch equations are perturbatively solved up to second order in the external field. We found that each noise affects the dynamics in a different manner. Thus, at first order, the bath modifies the transverse relaxation time, whereas the effect of a random field can only be appreciated if the expansion is calculated up to second order, where correlations begin to be important. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider a zero-sum stochastic game with finitely many states restricted by the assumption that the probability transitions from a given state are functions of the actions of only one of the players. However, the player who thus controls the transitions in the given state will not be the same in every state. Further, we assume that all payoffs and all transition probabilities specifying the law of motion are rational numbers. We then show that the values of both a -discounted game, for rational , and of a Cesaro-average game are in the field of rational numbers. In addition, both games possess optimal stationary strategies which have only rational components. Our results and their proofs form an extension of the results and techniques which were recently developed by Parthasarathy and Raghavan (Ref. 1).The author wishes to thank Professor T. E. S.
